YouTube have a newly re-cut trailer for the Pilot, added just a couple of days ago. Go there...

Pilot & cast @ Comic-Con
The Bionic Woman panel at Comic-Con yesterday had a full showing of the Pilot, followed by a Q&A session. Some 3500 fans queued for the event and by all accounts were not disapointed. Michelle was on stage with David Eick, exectuive producer, and fellow stars Katee Sackhoff and Mark Sheppard. Michelle talked about the final fight sequence in the Pilot with Katee's character, Sarah Crovus, and how the development of the series is being influenced by the woman behind the scenes and the casting of Michelle Ryan [sounds intersteing]. They talked about Jaime's deaf sister being re-cast and how the scenes would be re-shot for the Pilot's airing in September. The panel revealed they will be playing up the fact that Jaime doesn't know how to use all her powers correctly and the problems that would arise from this throughout the course of the season.

Jekyll Region 1 DVD release & new Robocop release
BBC's Jekyll will receive a Region 1 release on the 18th of September,as a 2 disc set. The cover art is both disapointing and misleading, it's of a schlok-horror nature and has Jekyll brandishing a knife in which can been seen the reflections of 2 women [Ryan and Bellman]. This is about an un-representaive of the series as you can get and dismisses it's inteligent and smart writing, along with some superb performances from an ensemble cast. For US fans, Play.com has it listed at $29.99 with free delivery here.

Director named for 2nd episode
David Barrett, son of well-known stuntman Stan Barrett, has been confirmed to director the all-important 2nd episode of the show which will bridge the Pilot with the rest of the series, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed today. David has been brought in as director/executive producer. "David is great with visual style and giving the show a cinematic look," said Elisa Roth, senior vp drama programming at Universal Media Studios, which produces the series. "He is also a great storytelller and a great team player."Barrett most recently was director/supervising producer on NBC's E-Ring and CBS' Cold Case.Barrett believes his action background directing high-octane episodes of "Fastlane" and "E-Ring" as well as his stunt expertise were the perfect preparation for Bionic Woman.

In his work on the show, he plans to rely very little on special effects, opting instead to go for real on-camera action as well as to explore the dramatic story at the core of the series. "We've taken the approach to ground everything in reality," he said. "Amongst the action, it's the emotional story of a woman who tries to find a balance between humanity and possessing machinery in her body."

Sackhoff nearly walks on BW gig...
Katee Sackhoff has signed a last-minute deal with NBC/Universal Media Studios to stay on the series as a recurring character after nearly walking out of negotiations. Katee plays Sarah Corvus, as seen in the Pilot, as Jaime Sommers bionic nemesis. Sackhoff was featured heavily on the network's promotion for the series and touted as a recurring character, but didn't have a deal to stay on beyond a couple of episodes. Sources say the actress and Universal started out far apart on terms, but the two sides finally signed a deal to keep her on the show on Tuesday (July 17). David Eick, who executives produces Battlestar Galacticar and Bionic Woman, was said to have been instrumental in getting Sackhoff on board.

BW producers defend hiring of ex-Grey's Anatomoy star in face of controversy...
The producers have been standing their ground for bring Isaiah washington on board, in the face of flack from the media at the NBC press Tour after the actor was fired from GA after speaking out about the one of the other stars and the fact he was gay. Syfyportal.com reported: “We believe in second chances,” executive producer Jason Smilovic told reporters. “The way to change a problem ... rather than excommunicate somebody, is to allow them to make amends.” This led to one critic suggesting that they script a gay kiss for his yet-to-be-named character. Smilovic, however, rejected the idea, saying it would break “down the third, fourth and fifth wall of television.” When asked if Washington would have been hired if he was a white actor who used a racial slur, Smilovic was quick to sidestep the question with a “That’s a theoretical question that I really can’t answer." Producers for "Bionic Woman" maintain that hiring Washington is not an insult to potential gay and lesbian viewers. “We embrace the gay community,” Smilovic said. “We hope they will embrace the show. … We are in no way making any judgments about what was said. … This is about making great entertainment.”

NBC launches full-on BW site
NBC have re-vamped their Bionic Woman page with a full-on BW experience including character bios, new photo's and wallpaper! The site, whilst already covering alot of background on the characters has yet to add any details about the series, a fact which will no doubt be remided later this year. Be sure to look out for the small circularicons on various pages which open up 'hidden' info. The site address, if you didn't know it is: http://www.nbc.com/Bionic_Woman/index.shtml

2nd character name change
Another character on the show has also received a change of surname, this time it is Will Yun Lee's character. He was previously known as Jae Kim, he has now been given the surname Huang instead.

July 13th 2007
Character name change & sister out?
Chris Bowers' character, Will Masters has had his surname changed on the official NBC site to Anthros. Hmm, not sure what that means, but it does look like he has also been bumped up to a series regular. Following on from this there have been rumours that Jamie's sister Rebecca, may now be dropped altogether, rather than re-cast after the firing of Mae Whitman. This could have implications for the back-story of why Jamie is a bartender, when it was said she dropped out of college to look after her sister after the death of their parents. It would also alter Jamie's motivations and emotional reactions as a character removing her only apparently living close relative [her parents are allegedly deceased]. This may of course be a temporary thing, to move along filming and mean they dont need to re-shoot footage for the Pilot and Rebecca could be re-introduced later. The news seems to be linked, reading bewteen the lines with the absence of Jamie's sister the producers may have decided it necessary to increase the role of Jamie's boyfriend in oreder to give Jamie someone to play-off/interact with, outside of the goverment characters, such as Bledsoe, Treadwell and Kim.

BW goes down-under...
The new show will air on Channel Seven in Australia. No air dates at the moment.

The first UK genre magazine to feature the new Bionic Woman series is any depth is SciFi Now. Michelle in The EW 100
Entertainment Weekly have a poll in this week's magazine and on their web site of 100 things they love on TV at the moment, and Michelle Ryan features in the Wonder Women catagory, with Sarah Connor Chronicles star Lena Headey. Under More Woman Than Bionic EW says... Ryan, it turns out, does not actually have any hydraulic lift in her knees. But she is rather sporty. ''I was a real tomboy when I was younger,'' she says. ''Swimming, gymnastics, dance, climbing trees — I totally loved playing with the guys.'' A small nation's worth of 18-to-49-year-old men just swooned.

ITV get Bionic in the UK
The British commercial station ITV have aquired the rights to air Bionic Woman on ITV2 in the UK. ITV2 also airs the hit show Supernatural in the UK. The show has been acquired under ITV's first-look deal with NBC Universal. This means most UK fans with a digital box either Freeview, Sky or Cable will be able to watch the show. It is also likely that ITV will repeat the show on their main ITV1 channel after it's inital broadcast. This is a nice touch for fans as the original Bionic shows aired on the terrestrial ITV network back in the 70's.

Whitman out, it's official
At TvGuide, Mike Ausiello reports that an NBC spokesman confirmed the move, adding "The decision was purely creatively driven. It is very common to change storylines, charcaters, actors after the Pilot is shot" Rumour has it that someone high up in NBC requested that the character's hearing be restored. We are still awaiting details of the new actress. Stay tuned for updates.....

June 27th 2007
Rebecca Sommers re-cast, Mae Whitman out?
Word is that Jamie's sister, Rebecca, currently played by Mae Whitman, is to be re-cast due to the negative feedback on the NBC site over the past week surrounding a 'hearing' acrtess portraying a 'hearing-impaired' one. Some have said NBC doesn't want to alienate another community and are looking to re-cast. This is borne out by the fact that all the clips including Mae/Rebecca have been removed from the official site and the promo trailer re-cut with extended scenes to pad it out. Personally I think this is a big mistake on NBC's part, especially considering the Pilot hasn't even aired yet. Mae and Michelle had a chemistry between them, that was evident from the few clips already shown and long-term the impression is that Rebecca would have got her hearing back - one of the reasons a deaf actress WASN'T cast. Currently we don't know if Rebecca will remain deaf, or if that facet of the character will be dropped. The crew are shooting new scenes to replace the ones with Mae in, and this looks to have pushed the start of the filming of the series back from the start of July to around the 24th.

The new casting sides for 'Becca, which seem to confirm Mae is out, have the characterbeing 'hot' [not a good start, we think]. She comes across as a 15-year quasi-Goth, not yet aware of her good looks, wearing earings through her nose. She is apparently still down as a brunette, but don;t rule out her being a blonde ala Elisha Cuthbert. Here at Alex7000, we are currently NOT replacing any of the Rebecca/Mae pages we have up until we know exactly what is happening in terms of the character, but we are adding updates to say re-casting is pending/a possibility. Please drop by the forum and let us have your thoughts on this controversal topic. Go here...

New BW interview
IGN.com have up a new interview with Michelle and an overview of the new show. The interview is kind of short and nothing really new is revealed. On the character of Jaime, Michelle says "I would say she's feisty and smart and loyal, and also warm and vulnerable. She's a young woman who's trying to find her way in life, she's dealing with these incredible things that are being thrown at her. But yes, she's kicking ass, and yeah, she is kind of taking on the world. But she's also feeling very vulnerable, and she has a boyfriend who isn't entirely honest with her. And you know, who can't identify with that? [Laughs]" She also says she did most of her own fight scens in the Pilot "Yeah! Pretty much everything. There were a couple of big stunts that Melissa Stubbs, who's an incredible stuntwoman, did. She did things like the hanging off the building. But apart from that, I did everything else." NBC network executive fire... BW under threat?
NBC executive Kevin Reilly has been removed from his post at the network.Whilst his name is not commonly known to the average viewer, Reilly was involved with hit shows The Shield and Sopranos, before joining NBC and since overseen Heroes and The Office. He is being replaced by producer Ben Silverman, who despite having a strong TV background has never run a TV network. How this move will effect Bionic Woman is unknown at this time, however in-coming network heads often like to scrap projects greenlighted by the previous boss and put their own stamp on things. With rumblings that advertisers were less than happy with some of the new Fall shows, we'll need to watch things carefully over the coming months and see how the change impacts NBCs Fall schedule.

Cast to attend Bionic convention?
The organiser of Bionicon 2, a convention devoted to the original Bionic shows has confirmed he has been contacted by NBC/Universal and there is a strong likelyhood that some, if not al,l of the new Bionic Woman may also be in attendance, along with a few surprises [a showing of the Pilot?]. He also says he has seen the direction where they plan to take the show and it looks promising [this from an ORIGINAL series Bioncis fan!]. The convention is on June 29th to July 1st, in LA. BW scheduling details
With all networks now having released their new Fall schedules we know what shows the Bionic Woman will be in competition with on the other networks. For the 9pm Wednesday slot, ABC have positioned the Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice. Introduced as a 2-part episode last season, this sees one of the main characters from Seattle Grace move to LA and has potential in it's cast of Tim Daly, Amy Brenneman and Taye Diggs. CBS place their returning show Criminal Minds for it's 3rd season. This is another possible threat, but hopefully will be ignored by the younger audience demoghraphic BW should appeal to. Fox push their 3rd series of Bones to 9pm Wednesday night and will hope it's audience will come along too. Finally CW drop in their new teen soap Gossip Girl. It's a tough call, with 3 news shows and 2 returning shows, for viewers to chose from. Hopefully tht hype for BW will draw an early lead and if it can build on this may see off some of the competion. Whilst no firm air date for the Pilot has been revealed, TV.com says that BW will debut on Wednesday September 26th. Clear those calendars NOW!

NBC BW launch bandwagon keeps rolling
NBC appear to have released alot of the BW clips from their official site onto YouTube, in an attempt to raise the show's profile even further. One of the NBC executives has even gone so far as to declire they are "going to market the hell of out Bionic Woman" in an effort to make sure the show is a hit when it airs this Fall. Here are some shots of Michelle, Miguel and Will from last Mondays' NBC launch event in New York:

IT'S OFFICIAL! THIS FALL... BW ON WEDNESDAYS @ 9PM!!!
Yes, NBC have finally announced that BW will join their schedules this fall in the 9pm Wednesday slot, following Deal or No Deal. Many people, us included thought NBC might butt it up against their current hit show Heroes, making a strong 2-hour Sci-Fi slot for them. At the moment we don't know what BW will go up against on the other networks. There have been rumours Lost was moving from 10pm to 9pm on Wednesday's, however this has not been confirmed and their is even talk of Lost moving to a different day.

NBC also say BW will air on the Sc-Fi channel, sometime after it's NBC debut, but no further details are forth coming at present. This is only the first and early news from the New York event and we may have further details later today, or tomorrow. In the meantime, NBC have released some new studio shots of the other BW cast regulars.

New Executive Producer comes aboard
Variety.com says that Jason [Kidnapped & Karen Sisco] Smilovic has signed a 7-figure deal to come onto The Bionic Woman...
Smilovic is an exec producer on "The Bionic Woman," which he joined prior to production to revise it. The scribe played a large role in the version that was eventually shot and has now been ordered to series.

Under terms of the pact, Smilovic will help launch "Bionic Woman" and make sure it's operating better, stronger, faster before turning his attention to developing series.

"In the immediate future, I'll be getting the show up and running to make sure it has legs," Smilovic said. "I'll be there for as long as it takes to accomplish that goal, and then start developing again."

Smilovic said "Bionic Woman" will operate as a hybrid drama -- with both standalone episodes and segs that feed into a larger narrative framework.

"We're trying to take the show and the (1970s-era) idea of a bionic woman, but really modernize it," he said. "We'll update the show for a contemporary world, and use it not only to deal with today's social issues but also about what's going on in the world right now."

New deal continues Smilovic's relationship with NBC Universal; he most recently created and exec produced the drama "Kidnapped" for the Peacock.

"NBC has always in my opinion been the most sophisticated network," he said. "It's been a great collaboration. They know what they want and really empower the writers and directors."

The worry is neither of Smilovic's previous shows got further than 13 episodes. He also wrote the so-so thriller Lucky Number Slevin. Hopefully this may be off-set by the addition of Glen Morgan's writing talents, who also doubles as exceutive producer.

Most of the UK papers today have been running articles on the pick-up of Bionic Woman, and the fact it is starring ex-Eastender Michelle [as it we didn't know!]. The Daily Mail had a larger item than others, and had this to say on it's web site, along with numerous images from the trailers which we have seen over the last couple of day. Read it here...

Review and staffing details keep on coming!
With the first review of the Pilot hitting Aint-It-Cool news today [here] and continued confirmaytion around the 'Net about the fact NBC has greenlighted Bionic Woman amoungst it's fall schedule, there comes news genre fan fave Glen Morgan is to join the crew from Hollywood Reporter: Meanwhile, NBC's hot sci-fi drama "The Bionic Woman," which received a thumbs up to begin staffing late last week, has tapped Glen Morgan for a two-year show deal to potentially serve as executive producer/co-showrunner with David Eick if the show is picked up to series as expected.

One blogger, Scott, on scottevil wrote "Glen Morgan and his then-partner, Jim Wong, wrote almost all the X-Files episodes worth freaking out over during the show's first first, second and fourth seasons. They bowed out of Season 3 to create cult-favorite Space: Above and Beyond. Later, they ran the brilliant second season of Millennium. (Morgan's emmy-winning brother, Darin, also wrote some of the best XF and Millennium episodes, so let's hope he gets tapped for some freelance BW scripts. Morgan hasn't worked in TV in 7 years. This project just went from possibly worth sampling to must-see TV."

We have to agree, having people like Glen join the project can only improve the show's credibility, not to mention the overall quality of the show.

First OFFICIAL Bionic Woman photo's!
Alongside a recent interview this week with Michelle [here... ] were 16 fantastic official publicity, on-set and behind-the-scenes photo's from the much anticipated Pilot. This bodes really well for Universal to release photo's from the Pilot so far in advance of transmission. It just demonstrates the media and public interest in the show already. It's hard to imagine a studio releasing these kind of photo's for something they either have no faith in, or a show they don't expect to succeed. Word on the street has it that the show already been green-lighted, just on the back of what the studios have seen so far. Check-out the photo's, ya gonna LOVE them! Go here....

Sackhoff speaks Bionic...
GeekMonthly.com has posted some more on Katee's talk at the recent BG Summit event [see News April 25th] in relation to her involvment in the BW Pilot.... Sackhoff describes the role: "she almost all bionic and the nemesis of Jamie Sommers. Lucky me, she gets to make out with all the hot guys on the show. She is kind of like the Number 6 character of the Bionic Woman which is fun for me because I get to wear stilettos and tons of make-up. She is extremely tough, but she is certifiably insane with split personality"
Sackhoff also said that The Bionic Woman shares its crew with Battlestar Galactica Even though the Galactica cast was eventually let in on the secret that she wasn’t really killed off in, the crew was not. When filming the Bionic pilot she says many of the crew people came up to her to wish her condolences for being off BSG. But she did confirm she will be back for season 4 of Galactica.
